Are LG refrigerator water filters NSF certified?

Accepted Answer

Three of them are, and they may not be the one you need. NSF's drinking water treatment unit directory lists LG Electronics Inc. with LT600P, LT800P and LT500P, checked 2026-09-18.

LT600P and LT800P carry NSF/ANSI 42 aesthetic effects and NSF/ANSI 53 health effects, which includes lead reduction. LT500P carries NSF/ANSI 42 only.

WQA separately lists LG Electronics Inc. for its All-Puri point-of-use purifiers, which carry NSF/ANSI 401 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 as well. Those are a different product family — do not read that 401 claim onto a fridge cartridge. IAPMO R&T returns nothing for LG at all.

The LT1000P and LT700P, which fit most current LG refrigerators, are not returned by any of the three today. Once you know what your cartridge is listed for, check your water quality by ZIP code to see which contaminants your own supply actually carries.

Is the LG LT1000P NSF certified?

Accepted Answer

There is no current listing in the three directories we check, and that is a narrower statement than 'it is not certified'. We searched NSF by company, IAPMO R&T by both listee name and listed model, and WQA by keyword, on 2026-09-18. LT1000P and its element number ADQ74793501 returned nothing anywhere, with positive and negative controls run in the same session to prove the searches were executing. Our own archived NSF scrape from June 2026 does contain LT1000P-family records. The August 2026 scrapes and today's live directory do not. Something changed in between; certifier listings are restructured, renewed under different element numbers and re-filed more often than people assume. What we can tell you is that right now there is nothing in these directories to verify an LT1000P certification claim against. If you need a cartridge with a current, checkable health-effects listing, the LT800P has one.

What does an LG water filter remove?

Accepted Answer

It depends entirely on which cartridge, and the gap between them is the whole health-effects tier. LT800P is listed under NSF/ANSI 53 for 2,4-D, asbestos, atrazine, benzene, carbofuran, cyst, lead, lindane, mercury, p-dichlorobenzene and toxaphene. LT600P is listed under NSF/ANSI 53 for 2,4-D, atrazine, benzene, turbidity, mercury, lead, lindane and cyst. LT500P is listed under NSF/ANSI 42 only — chlorine, taste and odour, and Nominal Particulate Class III. It has no certified contaminant-reduction claims beyond those, despite having the largest rated capacity of the three. All three also carry the standard NSF/ANSI 42 chlorine and taste-and-odour claims.

Does an LG filter remove lead?

Accepted Answer

LT600P and LT800P are both listed for lead reduction under NSF/ANSI 53, which is the performance standard that covers it. LT500P is not — it holds no health-effects listing at all. Watch the other lead marker on these rows. NSF marks the LT800P row [Pb], which means the product was evaluated for weighted average lead CONTENT — a property of the material the cartridge is made from, not a claim about what it removes. A cartridge can carry both marks, and the LT800P does. No LG listing in any of the three directories names a PFAS claim — not the NSF fridge cartridges, and not the WQA All-Puri rows, whose NSF/ANSI 401 list covers pharmaceuticals, BPA and microplastics rather than PFOA or PFOS. Is the LT500P better than the LT600P because it lasts longer?

Accepted Answer

Longer, yes. Better, no — and this is the most consequential misreading on this page. LT500P is rated 500 gallons against LT600P's 300. That is the only dimension on which it leads. On certification they are not in the same category. LT600P is listed under NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI 53, with lead, mercury, cyst and turbidity reduction named. LT500P is listed under NSF/ANSI 42 only, and its particulate claim is Class III rather than Class I — a coarser filtration grade. So the LT500P lasts longer partly because it is doing less. Compared to the LT600P it carries no certified health-effects claims whatsoever. If capacity is what you are shopping on, that trade is worth making deliberately rather than by accident.

How long does an LG refrigerator water filter last?

Accepted Answer

NSF's listing gives a rated capacity in gallons rather than a time interval, and the three cartridges differ considerably. LT500P is rated 500 gallons at 0.5 gpm, LT600P 300 gallons at 0.5 gpm, and LT800P 200 gallons at 0.5 gpm. The LT800P row carries a footnote that claims of rated service cycle are not applicable for mechanical filtration. LG's own packaging and the appliance manual state a six-month style interval, and that is the right place to read it — we would rather point you there than repeat a duration we have not opened a source for. The capacity figure is the one that matters, because a cartridge past its rated volume can stop performing to the standard it is listed under.

Question 7

Where are LG water filters made?

Accepted Answer

In the Republic of Korea, and NSF's listing is specific enough to name the sites. The facility field on LG Electronics Inc.'s rows reads Daejeon, Republic of Korea and Chungcheongbukdo, Republic of Korea. The listee address is in Changwon-si, Gyeongsangnam-Do. What the directory does not do is map a facility to a cartridge, so we cannot tell you which site produced the filter in your refrigerator. We are reporting the facilities of record on the listing rather than inferring a country of origin from the company's corporate address.

Does LG's NSF/ANSI 401 certification apply to my refrigerator filter?

Accepted Answer

Almost certainly not, and this is the easiest claim on this page to misread. LG does hold an NSF/ANSI 401 emerging-compounds listing. It is at WQA, and it covers the All-Puri Filter System and 4-Stage All-Puri Filter System — point-of-use purifiers, a different product family from the refrigerator cartridges. No LT-series cartridge is returned under NSF/ANSI 401 by the live NSF directory today. Our own certification corpus does hold 401 records against LT700P and LT1000P element numbers, and we have checked those against the source: our June 2026 archive contains them, our two August 2026 archives do not, and today's live directory agrees with August. Those records are stale, and we are not republishing them as current. So if a retail page cites LG's NSF/ANSI 401 certification while selling you a fridge cartridge, the certification it is pointing at belongs to a different product.
