It's a 1911-founded US appliance maker (NYSE: WHR) in Benton Charter Township, Michigan. Its filter business is mostly the OEM cartridge supplier for Whirlpool, KitchenAid, Maytag, JennAir, and Amana refrigerators.
In 2014 it pulled its consumer filters under the EveryDrop brand. Its four flagship cartridges (EDR1RXD1, EDR2RXD1, EDR3RXD1, EDR5RXD1) fit most post-2007 Whirlpool-group fridges.

Founded as Upton Machine Company in St. Joseph, Michigan, producing electric wringer washers.

Renamed Nineteen Hundred Corporation after merger with Federal Electric.

Adopted the Whirlpool Corporation name after a series of expansions.

Acquired KitchenAid from Hobart Corporation, bringing premium appliance line in-house.
- 2006
Acquired Maytag Corporation (including Maytag, Amana, JennAir, Magic Chef) — the step that put Whirlpool behind most US fridge brands.
