Do everydrop filters remove PFAS?

Filter 3 does. The others do not, and this is the most important distinction in the lineup. PFOA Reduction and PFOS Reduction appear under NSF/ANSI 53 for EDR3RXD1 and its B and R variants. No other everydrop cartridge in the 375-row NSF result carries a PFAS claim — not Filter 1, not Filter 2, not Filter 4, not Filter A. So a shopper who bought Filter 1 because they read that everydrop filters handle PFAS bought the wrong cartridge. PFOA and PFOS are only two of the PFAS family, and a listing for them is not a listing for the rest. Does an everydrop filter remove lead?

Yes — every everydrop cartridge we checked carries a Lead Reduction claim under NSF/ANSI 53, which is the performance standard for lead already in your water. Filters 1, 2, 3, 4 and A all hold it. There is a second, different lead marker on these listings and it is easy to misread. Some model numbers appear with a bracketed [Pb] beside them. That is a statement about the weighted average lead content of the components themselves, defined in the NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 footnote, not a claim about what the cartridge takes out. Filters 1, 2 and 3 show it; Filters 4 and A do not — and all five hold the reduction listing regardless. Why does nothing come up when I search NSF for everydrop?

Because EveryDrop is not a listee. We ran the search on 2026-09-05 and it returned zero rows — identical to what we got from a deliberately nonsensical company name run through the same form as a negative control, and to what the Whirlpool search returned at IAPMO R&T. The positive control is what makes that meaningful: the same NSF URL form returned 375 rows for Whirlpool moments earlier, so the empty result is a real absence of a listee by that name rather than a search that failed to run. NSF indexes these cartridges by model number under Whirlpool Corporation, and the string everydrop appears zero times anywhere in that 375-row result.

Which everydrop filters does this cover?

The five consumer cartridges: Filter 1 (EDR1RXD1), Filter 2 (EDR2RXD1), Filter 3 (EDR3RXD1), Filter 4 (EDR4RXD1) and Filter A (EDRARXD1), along with their B and R variants. NSF's result also carries EDR5 and EDR6 models and a parallel WHR-prefixed family — the Whirlpool-branded equivalents of the same cartridges — which is seventeen EDR model strings in total. We cover the five that are sold to consumers under the everydrop name. Which one you need is determined by your refrigerator, not by which has the broadest listing.

How long does an everydrop filter last?

NSF's listings give a rated capacity rather than a time interval, and the capacities differ by model: the rows carry 100, 120, 200 and 240 gallons, at flow rates of .5, .6 and .7 gpm. A representative Filter 1 row reads 200 gallons at .5 gpm. That rated capacity is the figure the certification actually rests on. The familiar six-month guidance is everydrop's own recommendation, not a certified interval, and the two can diverge a long way in a household that uses more or less water than the average the recommendation assumes. This matters because a cartridge past its rated volume can stop performing to the standard it is listed under — so the gallons, not the months, are what to track.

Where are everydrop water filters made?

Not established by the records we read. NSF's result list identifies the listee as Whirlpool Corporation and names the certified models, and it does not identify a manufacturing facility. IAPMO R&T and WQA hold nothing for this brand at all, so there is no second record to check. Some certifier listings do carry a facility list; these do not. We would rather leave this blank than infer a country of origin from a corporate address.

Is an everydrop filter better than a third-party replacement?

On certification, the question answers itself only if you check the specific cartridge rather than the brand. The everydrop models hold NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 listings with the per-contaminant claims published — you can read exactly what each one is certified to reduce. Many third-party replacements carry no listing at all, and some carry a listing for a narrower set of claims than the cartridge they replace. The comparison that matters is not branded-versus-generic but listed-versus-unlisted, and then claim-by-claim. A replacement that holds NSF/ANSI 42 only is certified for taste and odour, not for lead. We would not tell you the branded cartridge is better because it is branded. We would tell you to read both listings.

Is everydrop the same as Whirlpool?

For certification purposes, yes: every everydrop cartridge is listed to Whirlpool Corporation, and NSF's result also carries a parallel WHR-prefixed family that mirrors the EDR one. EveryDrop is Whirlpool's filter brand, and the cartridges fit Whirlpool-group appliances — Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir and Amana. We keep them as separate pages because a shopper holding a box that says everydrop needs to find this information, and searching for Whirlpool is not an obvious step to take. That gap between the name on the packaging and the name on the certificate is the single most useful thing this page has to tell you.

Two refrigerator-cartridge brands whose certification distributions are exact opposites: EveryDrop's sits entirely at NSF, Frigidaire's entirely at IAPMO R&T. Neither is listed under the name a shopper would search. Checking one directory would tell you EveryDrop has plenty of certification and Frigidaire none, and both conclusions would be artefacts of which database you happened to open. Both are appliance-maker fridge-filter lines with real NSF listings, and both show why a single directory is not enough — Samsung's IAPMO files are material-safety only, and reading them as performance would overstate the product, while EveryDrop's IAPMO result is empty and reading that as 'uncertified' would understate it by 375 rows.
