Waterd iOS App

Waterd is the iOS hydration tracking app published by TapWaterData LLC, available on the Apple App Store. The privacy practices for the app differ materially from the website's and are described below.

On-Device Storage, No Accounts

Waterd does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address. Your hydration logs, goals, vessel preferences, and personal context (height, weight, activity level if entered during onboarding) are stored only on your device in the app's local sandbox. We do not operate a cloud backend that receives or stores your hydration data.

If you delete the app, the data is deleted with it.

Apple HealthKit

With your explicit permission, Waterd writes hydration entries to Apple Health (HealthKit) and reads weight/activity data from HealthKit to inform daily hydration goal calculations. HealthKit data flows directly between Waterd and the Apple Health app on your device — TapWaterData LLC does not receive, store, or transmit any HealthKit data.

You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Waterd.

Apple WeatherKit

Waterd uses Apple WeatherKit to retrieve local temperature and humidity for adjusting daily hydration targets in hot weather. WeatherKit calls are made from your device to Apple's servers; we do not see your location or weather queries.

In-App Purchases (Waterd Premium)

Waterd offers an optional Premium tier with monthly, yearly, and lifetime purchase options. Subscription and purchase processing is handled by Apple via the App Store; we use RevenueCat to validate receipts and manage entitlement state. Apple shares anonymized purchase events with us (purchase, renewal, cancellation) but does not share your Apple ID, email, or payment information with TapWaterData LLC.

For RevenueCat's data handling, see RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Anonymous App Analytics

Waterd uses TelemetryDeck, a privacy-respecting analytics service, to collect anonymous, aggregated usage metrics (e.g., feature engagement, crash counts). TelemetryDeck does not receive or store user identifiers, IP addresses, or device fingerprints sufficient to identify individual users. Apple App Store Connect provides additional aggregated download and crash analytics that we cannot tie back to individuals.

No Advertising in the App

Waterd does not display advertisements and does not share any data with advertising networks. The Mediavine/advertising disclosures elsewhere in this policy apply to the website only.

Universal Links

When you tap a tapwaterdata.com/waterd link on an iPhone with Waterd installed, iOS may open the link in the app instead of Safari. This handoff is handled entirely by iOS using the apple-app-site-association file we publish; no personal data is transmitted as part of the handoff.

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to:

  • Essential Cookies: Enable core website functionality
  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors use our site
  • Advertising Cookies: Enable personalized advertisements

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect site functionality.
