Linuron
Health Effects
EPA's Integrated Risk Information System classifies Linuron as: C; possible human carcinogen. EPA's stated basis: "Limited evidence indicated linuron produced increases in both testicular hyperplasia and adenomas in male rats in three separate studies. Hepatocellular adenomas were observed in female mice in a single study at the highest dose group tested; the tumors were benign and showed no progression toward malignancy." EPA has not set a federal drinking-water limit (MCL or MCLG) for Linuron; IRIS assesses a chemical's toxicity, not the amount permitted in tap water.
