Allyl Chloride
Health Effects
EPA's Integrated Risk Information System classifies Allyl Chloride as: C; possible human carcinogen. EPA's stated basis: "Classification is based on a low (but biologically important) incidence of forestomach tumors in female mice and positive results in a variety of genetic toxicity tests. Allyl chloride is an alkylating agent and structurally related to probable human carcinogens." EPA has not set a federal drinking-water limit (MCL or MCLG) for Allyl Chloride; IRIS assesses a chemical's toxicity, not the amount permitted in tap water.
