These systems are under a do-not-drink or do-not-use order, not a boil water advisory. The two are not interchangeable, and the difference decides what you should do.

Boiling kills bacteria and viruses. It does nothing to nitrate, arsenic or PFAS — it concentrates them, because the water leaves as steam and the contaminant stays behind. Treating one of these orders the way you would treat an advisory about organisms would make the water worse, not better.

Read the notice your own utility sent, and follow it. It names the substance, the area it covers, and what the utility is telling residents to use instead. Nothing here replaces that notice.
