Every hosepipe ban recorded as lifted
No hosepipe ban is recorded as lifted. A lift appears here once a water company's own page says its ban has been lifted and neither the Environment Agency's list nor The Gazette shows a ban in force for it.
What counts as a lift here
A ban is listed as lifted only when the water company's own page says its ban has been lifted and neither the Environment Agency's weekly list of temporary use bans in England nor The Gazette's statutory notices show a ban in force for the company, or when an editor has confirmed the lift from the company's own notice. The Environment Agency's list covers England only, so a lift in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland is always an editor's to confirm.
A company that never had a ban is not listed. Having no ban and a ban ending are different facts, and this page records only the second.
What the date means
We print no date for when a ban ended. Each line says no ban was in force and the day we checked, which is not the day the ban ended: a ban may have ended days or weeks before we looked.
